Some of us may still be kicking and screaming, but we’ve all wound up here in the world of online communication, QDVA members included.
Started in 1954, the Quinte District Veterinary Association provides continuing professional development for members and colleagues in south eastern Ontario. The group’s territory extends from the southern-most tip of Prince Edward County, north to Tweed and Bancroft and from Port Hope to Napanee.
With a core group of a dozen or so founding veterinarians, the QDVA was set up to help share information among colleagues, attract interesting speakers for meetings and organize social events for members and their families. Initially meetings were convened in Belleville members’ homes, then moved to Lattimer’s Towne Room at the old Hotel Quinte.
For the past several decades, meetings have been held most commonly at the historic Belleville Club. Sessions usually take place on weeknights and feature presentations by high profile specialists. A full dinner is served and the meetings usually run until 9 p.m.
A variety of topics from surgery to practice management are covered over the course of the QDVA season which extends from September to April. Meetings generally attract from 30 to 60 veterinarians and lay staff. In recent years, the association has often welcomed colleagues from Kingston and other areas outside its regional boundaries.
Membership fee for the 2017/2018 season is $70 if paid before September 30th and, $100 thereafter. Only licensed DVMs are eligible to join. Fee for retired (non-practicing DVMs) is $50. Payment can be made by Cheque or Cash ONLY, please mail cheques to :
