Doreen M. Houston DVM, DVSc, Diplomate A.C.V.I.M. Internal Medicine
Doreen graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1980, spent a wonderful 4 years in private practice, and then returned to OVC for further education (Internship, Residency and DVSc in Internal Medicine). She became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 1991.
A career that followed included time in academia at both OVC (staff veterinarian) and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan (Professor in Internal Medicine) and time in industry as director of the Scientific Communications/Clinical Trial Research for Medi-Cal Royal Canin Veterinary Diet in Canada). Doreen officially retired in July 2011 to allow her new career as a grandmother to flourish . She registered her own business, Doreen Houston Consulting in Sept, 2011 as her love of medicine required her to remain active in the field. Doreen is the author of multiple published papers, several book chapters and a textbook. She was the recipient of a number of academic teaching awards and was the proud recipient of the Ontario Veterinarian Medical Association`s Outstanding Veterinarian of the Year award in 2011. She has a passion for pets and is the proud owner of a 13 year old rescued Border collie named “Rayner”. Doreen and her husband enjoy biking, hiking and traveling across the globe. She has been on every continent-even slept on the ice in Antarctica and did a South Ocean swim!
Attendance is limited to about 70 people. Please register by 5 p.m., Friday, September 23rd.
The session will be held as usual at the Belleville Club, starting at 6 p.m. sharp. Doors open at 5:30. p.m. There is a $45 charge for members and $65 for non-members.
